Joe Mango and his fiance, Kelsey Knisell, of Bethel, are hoping to win Crate Barrell’s Ultimate Wedding Contest.

BETHEL — Kelsey Knisell and Joe Mango are looking forward to their wedding day. And they are hoping to win some money through Crate Barrel’s Ultimate Wedding Contest.

“Joe and I are like the same exact person and our futures lined up,” Knisell said, smiling. “We’re best friends, our personalities match and we’re goofy together.”

Knisell and Mango met one another in 2004 during a Spanish class they had together at Garnet Valley High School. At the time, Knisell was a sophomore and Mango was a junior.

Both Mango and Knisell were dating other people in high school and college. After college, they were both single and Knisell reached out to Mango on Facebook.

Mango, who will turn 24 next week, then asked Knisell out on a date and they’ve been together ever since. One year and five months to be exact. Mango proposed after nine months of dating during a trip in Key West, Fla., that Knisell won through a radio contest.

“It was a surprise,” said Knisell, who will turn 23 next month.

Mango and Knisell’s wedding is scheduled for June 30, 2012. But if they win the Crate Barrel contest, they said they are willing to rearrange their plans.

The couple is currently hovering near the top 10 voter-getters in the contest. Even if they don’t win the $100,000 grand prize, there is a chance they could win a second, third or honorable mention prize, according to Crate Barrel’s website.

“We hope people help us out and vote for us,” said Mango.

The deadline for voters to choose the final 100 couples is April 30. Crate Barrel will announce the winners in June.
